A lovely mouthful of bubbles, with a good after-taste, to be enjoyed in the garden ona summer's evening.

I love the light white zingy wines from Vinho Verde in Portugal!

Off- dry Vouvray mmm....

Have to say that Okahu Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is my favourite of the moment. A classic NZ SB fruity with a clean gooseberry taste on the palate and long fruity aftertaste.

And even better when you can get it at half-price on-line now and then!

Try it and see - if you like your Marlborough SBs then this one is for you!

I like a picpoul de pinet on a warm evening, fresh and with a slight zing.

Hardys Crest Pinot Noir Sparkling

Just the thing for a warm summer evening. Dry & bubbly ...delicious!

I spent a week in Bordeaux in May and tried Bordeaux Rosé and Clairet. I had not really drunk many of these before but I was impressed by the pure fruit expression in the wines, very flavourful, well structured and great with food. I am waiting for the Tesco Wines from France Bordeaux Rosé to come back into stock, then I'll be buying some for summer drinking. Most rosé should be drunk asap but this one can be kept for up to 2 years.

Favourite at the moment is the Gallo Family White Zinfandel Light and very fruity but not too dry as I hate dry wines.A close runner up would be the Fetzer Valley oaks which is quite similar.Lovely on balmy summer evenings(if we ever get any!!)

Picpoul de Pinet - crisp, dry perfect glugging wine on a hot (if it arrives!)summer's day.

Try the vermentino (sicilian or Sardinian). Also the Rose Nero d'Avola is deliciously fruity and thirst quenching - lovely with a BBQ on a summer's afternoon - preferably something fishy - prawns or scallops?

White wine for summer, red wine for winter, and champagne for anytime!

My two favourite summer wines are Gruener Veltliner - delicious white with hint of citrus from the hillsides around Vienna;and Gavi di Gavi, an elegant white from the Veneto.

Spanish Albarino or Verdejo and French Sancerre for me !

I agree Albarino from Rias Baixas is a very nice white but sadly I don't get the chance to drink it very often!

A slightly chilled Rioja is still great in the summer, just 20 minutes or so in the fridge.

Had the 1531 blanquette de limoux with fish and chips last week. It was alchemy!
