McGuigan Classic Shiraz

My pet hate about most wine sellers is that there are very few tastings on offer. There are many write-ups which tempt me to try a new wine but after many disappointments, I find myslef reverting to my known favourites - until the next foray!
I've just bought 3 bottles of the 2011 McGuigan Shiraz from Tesco and the first one tastes most unlike my idea of Shiraz. I've had McGuigan before and been very impressed (my favourite is probably Rosemount) but this one tastes more thin/watery - a bit like Cotes du Rhone/Chateauneuf, but not as nice (or expensive).
Has anyone else tried the latest McGuigan? Is it a good shiraz or is my first bottle not up to scratch?

I tried a bottle of this yesterday (as it was reduced to £3.99 in store - so definitely worth a try at that price). It is certainly not a typical Aussie Shiraz - as you mention it is really quite light and not at all complex. At £3.99 I found it an acceptable midweek glug but I certainly would not pay the full £7.99 from which it was allegedly 'reduced'. Tim Adams' Protege Shiraz is a far better example of a an Aussie Shiraz - as a tempting entry level to his wonderful (but pricey) range.
