What I drank last night

Casillero del Diablo

I had a very tasty glass of the fruity 2010 Casillero del Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon last night and it reminded me how good this Chilean wine range is. Do you have any favourites from the 'cellar of the devil' wine range?

Yes, most definitely - we had a case of the 2007 Carmenere to help celebrate my daughter's 18th at a local Indian BYO restaurant in Bath and this wine was a superb accompanimant to an Indian banquet. It was also very tasty to savour unaccompanied. I believe that 2007 was an exceptional vintage in Chile.

Of all the Casillero wines Carmenere is by far the best. Marques de Casa Concha Syrah is from the same stable and is also extremely good.

Have to agree with Dodger - within the last few years Chilean Carmenere has come on in leaps and bounds in terms of quality and consistency, and you can get some very very good Carmeneres these days.
