Wine fair

Picking up on the prompt I have only tried 1 of the wines the Spy Mountain SavBlc. I discovered it a long time ago and think it is an exceptial SavBlc. Why...

I've fell in love with Sav/Blanc (SB) when I had the good fortune to be able to travel around New Zealand (NZ) and I drank only NZ whites and Austrialian reds. Lucky me! They were all fanastic, all fanastic! Also good was the price as then, I was getting close to 3NZ$ to the pound!

I feel that many SB are easy to drink, floral nose & fruity pallet (apples, bananas, pears, fresh cut grasslands!) but they can be a bit too typical with no 'individual' characteristics.

Spy Mountain is one of my 'off-the-wall' SB. It is not typical, although it is clearly a SB. It has it's own 'personallity' and 'uniqueness'. If I had a glass in front of me now I would describe it's style, however, I wanted to add that other 'individual' SB for me are the Waipau Cove, Oyster Bay is an excellent 'standard' SB with superb quality and if you can afford it the Cloudy Bay, very clean well defined notes! Also one of favourite 'better' SB was always the Villa Maria, sadly these days it seems to have risen in price considerably.

Just a few ideas of good SB to try!

I thought the London fair on Sunday was excellent! I was particularly pleased with the knowledge, chat and general helpfulness of all the servers and how willing everyone was to discuss tasting notes - servers and public! It was a real pleasure and the superb wine did not disappoint either!

I tried only reds and these are my favs in no particular order.

These 3 at the show were all under £6 - bargains price for good wines:
Marmesa Vineyards Cerro Romauldo Syrah (L34)
Sister's Run Shiraz (L34)
Cotes Catalanes Carignan (L44)
If you can afford it at around £17 a bottle the best 'quality' wine for me is:
Tesco Finest Hermitage (L18)

I know there were many other good wines at the fair but these 4 stood out above the rest and caressed my palate so much that I bought all of them!

Self-control and discipline is now required to ensure that at least few bottles remain for Christmas and the New Year!
