What about a Jim Barry month?

All, what are the chances that Tesco would run a Jim Barry month? These wines can vary in price from £8.00 to £80, however they all have one thing in common , they are superb!! The McRae Wood is one of the best bottles for just under £20 and the Lodge Hill is a classic for under £10. A number of years ago Tesco ran a promotion on a Montes tasting box. This was one of the best offers Tescos ran - not in the price sense more in terms of making boutique type wines available to the ordinary Joe Bloggs. Come on Tesco bring back your sense of adventure!!

Going with the 2009 Jim Barry the Lodge Hill Shiraz this afternoon with Sunday Roast beef.

Jim Barry wines are pretty good, if you've not tried them you must.
I see online they only have the 2010 vintage which I haven't tried but I can Vouch for the 2009, lovely wine.

Review to come.

Jim Barry - The Lodge Hill Shiraz 2009 ( been sitting in my rack now for well over two years, almost forgot about it.)

Really enjoyed this so I will be tempted to try the 2010.

Decanted it for about 2 hours before Sunday lunch.
In the glass deep, I mean really deep inky colour, engaging aromas of dark berries, smoke, liquorice and tar.

Taste wise - sweet dark ripe juicy berries and chocolate almost cherry liquor like. Bonfire ash and a touch of mint. Expecting a bit of a fruit bomb but was pleasantly surprised by the balance between smoothness and spiciness with just a hint of the latter but enough to know you're drinking an Aussie Shiraz.

An elegant drink, not to rush, just sit back and savour.
