How long will a bottle of Chablis last

I have been given a bottle that is about about 14 years old.... is it ok to drink (my wife thinks it will poison her !) it is 12.5% and is French.

Because it's a Chardonnay (and can cellar well) it shouldn't be too awful. Depending on the care it has received over the years, it will probably have lost the best of its fruity flavours and a good degree of its acidity. Expect it to taste quite "flabby"

Depending on the quality of the wine, Chablis can age well for up to 15 years, and as mentioned above, depending on how well it has been stored, it certainly wont poison anyone!

There's only one way to find out really...

Let us know how you get on!

many thanks to all who took the time to respond to my question.....I did open it and it looked good, although it did not smell too good, I did try it.
It was awful.....but in the true spirit of science I even took a second sip, it was still awful.
Now where did I put that bottle of Wairau Cove ?
