Only drank the 'Simply Riesling' so far and it was OK, nice fresh apples and melon, sweetish with a slight creaminess, good balance.

For a reasonable price, you can't go wrong !

Ok, i've got to admit that i'm biased when it comes to this range, seeing as i developed them, but i'm particularly proud of two new Simply wines that are launching in-store next week. Simply Garnacha and Simply Garnacha Rosé. Garnacha is the Spanish name for Grenache. At £4.49 each, these are just cracking value. The Campo de Borja region in Spain makes (for me) the best value Grenache in the world, and these fruity and delicious wines are perfect BBQ wines..... Lets hope we get some BBQ weather soon!!

Heard good things about the 'Simply Malbec' might be the next one to try

Hi spikedc. The Simply Malbec was one of David Williams 'Wines of the week' in The Observer on 3rd June. Well worth a try. We're all big fans of Malbec in the wine team and had been trying to find a really great value example for the Simply range. I think we've found it with this one. If you do try it, i'd love to know what you think about it.

Definitely Simply Malbec, it is absolutely marvellous. Not tried the Riesling though, might give that a go.

Went to my local store today, unfortunately no 'Simply Malbec'. Going to try another store tomorrow.
25% off when you buy 6 bottles as well until 31st July. Might have to add another 5 bottles to my list, while I'm there !!

Look forward to reading what you think spikedc! Here's hoping the BBQ weather stays over the weekend for your Simply Malbec!

Cheers!

Opened the 'Simply Malbec' last night. It's only the second of the 'Simply' range I've tasted the other being the Riesling which I enjoyed a lot. I was pleasantly surprised. It had the characteristic dark colour, not much on the nose maybe a little of the dark fruit. Taste wise it was extremely fruity (Plums and Blackberry), sweetish, smooth a velvety although there was a bit of heat from the alcohol.
Overall, for the price it was very good and I have no hesitation in recommending it, a great everyday wine.

Simply Malbec was a good drinking wine in July when I purchased my first case.

The second case purchased in September was the cheapest worst plonk it has ever been my misfortune to try.

Definately a no-no . returning it.
Awaiting Tesco's advice as it's over 28 days since I bought it

Hi travellerbazza,

I'm sorry to hear that the Simply Malbec wasn't up to the standard you had previously experienced. I would have expected the wine to taste even better.

Please give me a call directly on 0845 026 9998.

Thanks,

Fiona

Hello, I've tried the simply chardonnay which was very good, so I've purchased 3 cases as this is a good volume drinking wine! The Tesco Finest Sancerre is a little pricy so I wait for your special offers to purchase a few cases when the price normally drops below the £9 to £10 thresh-hold. We are trying other Simply whites so will advise on our preferences.

I have been looking for a merlot in this range but have yet to find it. Has Tesco's included this grape in the Simply range?

Hi Joe. We don't currently do a Merlot under the Simply range. Now you point it out, it does look like a bit of a gap in the range! I'll be looking into it. I'll have to send you a case of Simply Merlot now if i do launch one as payment for the idea!!!

I've only tried the simply Pinot Noir so far, but thought it was very nice, lots of Rasberry flavours and nice and light.

I tried the Simply Cotes du Rhone yesterday evening and it was quite decent (from the Celliers des Princes caves). Obviously not as complex as more expensive examples from this AOC but certainly has the essence of a Rhone Valley Syrah/Grenache about it.

Noticed a lot of favourable reviews about the 'Simply' wines lately. Video bloggers 'Birds with Bottle' just reviewed the Chenin Blanc and gave it the thumbs up, also a lot of other reviewers have all had good things to say about the range.

From a personal point of view I've now tasted the Riesling, Malbec, Garnacha, Pinot Noir and Cotes du Rhone.

All of them, for the price, very good

Nice one James Griswood

Hi Spikedc (and everyone else!)

Thanks for the positive feedback on the Simply Range. I've put a lot of work into it since its launch, so its great to know people are enjoying the wines. With ever increasing duty/taxes its geting harder and harder to source decent wine to sell at these prices. We'll keep up the hunt and look for some other bargains for 2013!
