tescos Wine Selection

Its a pity that Tescos can't offer some half decent wines in their cheaper range(up to £5 a bottle). When there is a half decent midweek gargle is offered, it never seems to be available. Anybody else out there find or think the same?

I must admit that I tend to buy all my Tesco wine online. I rarely get to a store - probably only once every 3 weeks.

The Finest Cotes Catalanes Carignan is on offer at the moment, making it under a fiver. Definitely worth stocking up!

Not sure if they still do it but Tesco Stores used to give you a voucher for a special offer wine (or any other special offer product) that was out of stock so that you could buy it at the offer price when it was restocked... maybe someone from Tesco would advise if this is still the case?

When buying wine online, the Tesco website allows you to view wines within a certain price range. There are currently 141 between £4-£4.99 and a further 107 under £4 per bottle.

I can see that for myself Westonlad, however the wines offered at those prices are normally tescos own or ones that are constantly on the list(obviously ones that are not particularly good). In the £4.99 range, one of the better ones ,in my opinion, has never been available since it was first advertised

In my local store there is a section for 'Fine Wine', usually a pretty good selection. I would like to see these wines discounted or on offer now and again, they always seem pretty expensive and only once have i seen an offer and that what on the 'Legaris Reserva 2005 Ribera del Duero' reduced to £9.99 a lovely wine.

Finding great wine under £5 is getting more and more difficult, mainly due to the duty and taxes. About half the price of a wine under £5 is duty and taxes.

Out of all the wines I try during a year, I think I would usually find 3 or 4 that are excellent and under £5.

You can search on my website for wines specifically under £5:

Yep, just found two crackers last week. Long Country(merlot) and Redwood Creek( pinot noir) , were on special offer last week... went on line last week to buy again... Long country disappeared altogether and when I got to the checkout the Redwood is out of stock..... !!
