Food and Wine

My home-made dish of the day today was..........

......... a king prawn dhansak (unusual for a Sunday I know). It tastes absolutely scrummy - creamy with a slight 'kick' and the prawns still soft.

And it's going down very well with a Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay.

Yeah.

What are you cooking today and what's your wine match?

Last night we had an early barbeque and went for a Californian Syrah with the burgers, absolutely delicious!

Pork and veg stir fry with a spicy hoisin, chilli and garlic sauce served with a bone dry Muscadet. Bliss!

Made a fish pie tonight with smoked haddock, cod, salmon and prawns and it worked very well with a Jacobs Creek chardonnay - although I must say I'm partial to chardonnay with almost anything!

I love my food and wine.

Tonight's rather unusual combo was - slightly over cooked (crispy on top) Dauphinoise (Daphne) potatoes with 3 rashers of crispy smoked bacon - went down very well with a young fruity French Malbec from Cahors.

Yum.

A large g and t in the garden - lots of ice and lemon followed by home made Fish and Chips with peas (from the garden) and home made tartare sauce - it was Fish Friday - with a lovely bottle of chilled Ogio Pinot Grigio. Super start to the weekend.

As a local store was doing a good offer on sweet peppers - 8 for £1 - my favourite is the sweet orange pepper - for lunch today I had the orange peppers topped/tailed/washed and stuffed with chopped lean ham and grated mature cheddar cheese and roasted in the oven for 15 minutes, then lightly dusted with freshly ground black peppercorns.

Absolutely scrummy with a small glass of Okahu Bay Sauv Blanc leaving me wishing I had bought more of the sweet peppers! Even my 23 yr old daughter liked them and that's saying something!

And all of these can be bought at Tesco to - now there's a plug!

Last night I made mushroom and red pepper risotto accompanied by a glass of Wollemi Chardonnay-first time I'd had this wine and not bad at all!
